Oppo Find X9 Pro First Impressions: Zooming Into Greatness

Send Push

Oppo’s new Find X9 Pro feels like one of those flagships that doesn’t just want to flex specs; it wants to feel effortless. From the moment you pick it up, you can tell Oppo has gone for refinement over reinvention.

The design is sleek, the display is gorgeous, and that new 200MP telephoto lens immediately demands attention. Everything about this phone screams premium, yet familiar, like a brand that’s finally settled into its stride. I’ve spent some time with it now, and here are my first impressions of what might just be Oppo’s most complete flagship yet.

The Oppo Find X9 Pro gets the premium design just right

The Oppo Find X9 Pro doesn’t scream for attention, but instead it just quietly nails the basics. At first glance, it looks familiar, almost understated. But the more time you spend with it, the more you realise how well Oppo has executed the design. Every edge, every curve, every bit of weight feels deliberate. It’s one of those rare big phones that feels perfectly balanced in the hand.

Despite its size, it never feels bulky. At just 8.25mm thick and packing a massive 7500mAh battery, the proportions are spot-on. You pick it up once, and it just feels right. That’s something most large flagships still struggle with.

The build quality is top-notch, too. The aluminium frame and glass back are standard, sure, but the subtle front and rear curves make a world of difference. Unlike iPhones with their sharp, flat edges that dig into your palm, the Find X9 Pro flows gently into your hand. It’s soft around the edges yet flat enough for a confident grip; basically, the best of both worlds.

Now, about that camera island. It’s big, bold, and impossible to miss. Oppo’s gone for a squircle layout this time, moving away from the circular design of the Find X8 Pro. It does look quite similar to what we’ve been seeing on recent OnePlus models, which makes sense given both share the same parent company. Still, it would’ve been nice to see Oppo carve out a slightly more distinct design language for its flagship line.

That said, the execution is solid. The chunky camera bump actually works in its favour as it helps the phone sit flat on a table without that annoying wobble. There’s also the signature Hasselblad branding, something OnePlus has quietly moved away from. Oppo, however, is still holding onto the partnership, and that’s great news for colour science and image tuning.

One small but meaningful addition is the physical Quick Button, a dedicated shutter key that lets you launch the camera, zoom, or capture shots without even touching the screen. Once you get used to it, it’s genuinely handy. The power and volume buttons sit comfortably on the right, along with Oppo’s “Plus Key,” a customisable shortcut for quick access to your favourite apps or functions. And yes, there’s an IR blaster up top for remote control duties.

The titanium-like finish on this unit looks stunning. It is a classy blend of copper and grey that’s smooth, fingerprint-resistant, and effortlessly premium. Oppo will also offer red and white variants, but this one’s the standout.

And finally, durability. The Find X9 Pro doesn’t just tick boxes, it smashes them. With IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, it’s protected from dust, water, and even high-pressure jets. This thing is built to last.

Overall, the Find X9 Pro feels like Oppo refining rather than reinventing. But when refinement’s done this well, that’s not a bad thing at all.

The Oppo Find X9 Pro has a stunning display that nails the flagship feel

Up front, the Oppo Find X9 Pro packs a stunning 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display that instantly grabs your attention. The bezels are ridiculously thin at just 1.15mm all around which gives it that clean, almost borderless look. It’s a 1.5K panel with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, so everything from gaming to scrolling feels buttery smooth.

Brightness is impressive too, hitting 1800 nits typically and peaking at a wild 3600 nits. You also get Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HDR Vivid support, making every video look crisp, punchy, and full of life. Oppo’s new 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor sits underneath, and it’s noticeably faster and more accurate. Even with wet fingers, it unlocked instantly. The whole screen’s protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which should easily take care of accidental drops and scratches. Overall, this display is pure flagship-level brilliance.

The Oppo Find X9 Pro’s Cameras mean serious business

Alright, let’s talk about what truly makes the Oppo Find X9 Pro stand out: the cameras. On the back, Oppo’s gone all in with a Hasselblad-tuned triple setup featuring a 50MP main, a 50MP ultrawide, and a jaw-dropping 200MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. There’s also a True Color sensor that quietly ensures colours stay natural and balanced across all lenses.

That 200MP periscope is a first for the Find X lineup, and it puts Oppo in the same conversation as the Vivo X200 Pro, and even the upcoming X300 Pro, when it comes to sheer imaging power. It’s an ambitious setup, but Oppo’s clearly done its homework.

Starting with the main sensor, you’re looking at Sony’s LYT-828 with optical image stabilisation, a bright f/1.5 aperture, and a 23mm focal length. It’s the same focal length as last year’s Find X8 Pro, but the tuning is leagues ahead. Colours now look richer and more lifelike, and tricky lighting no longer throws the camera off. You can tell Oppo has refined its image processing and dynamic range, especially under harsh or mixed lighting.

Then there’s the 50MP ultrawide camera using a Samsung sensor. It has an f/2.0 aperture and a slightly tighter 15mm field of view, which still manages to capture sweeping landscapes without distortion. Shots come out clean and sharp, with minimal edge warping, something even flagships struggle with at times.

Now, onto the showstopper: that 200MP periscope telephoto lens. It’s optically stabilised, and that 3x zoom translates to roughly 70mm in full-frame terms. The portraits I clicked looked incredibly detailed, crisp, and with a beautifully natural background blur. You can comfortably push it to 6x zoom without losing noticeable detail, which is seriously impressive. Sure, it goes up to 120x digital zoom if you really want to experiment, but the magic happens around 3x and 6x, where the computational photography works perfectly in sync.

The coolest part? That telephoto lens doubles as a macro shooter. You can get up close to subjects and capture tiny textures or intricate details that look stunningly clear. It’s practical, not just a gimmick.

Another standout is the return of Hasselblad’s XPan mode. It lets you shoot in a cinematic, film-style aspect ratio that feels like something out of an old movie reel. You can also switch between black-and-white and film negative modes, which gives your photos that timeless, storytelling vibe.

Video recordings are equally impressive. Both the main and telephoto lenses can shoot in 4K at 120fps, and with Ultra Steady mode on, you still get buttery-smooth 4K 60fps footage.

And for selfies, there’s a 50MP front camera that captures crisp, realistic shots with excellent skin tones; no over-smoothing or artificial glow.

From early impressions, Oppo’s camera game is seriously strong this year. The Find X9 Pro feels less like a phone with cameras and more like a camera that happens to be a phone.

The Oppo Find X9 Pro’s got a big battery with big stamina

The Oppo Find X9 Pro packs a massive 7,500mAh battery using Oppo’s new 3rd-gen Silicon-Carbon tech. It supports 80W SUPERVOOC wired and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging, both insanely fast. I haven’t wrapped up full tests yet, but after a full day of heavy use, it’s still holding strong, and that’s seriously impressive.

The Oppo Find X9 Pro stays smooth, powerful, and cool under pressure

The Oppo Find X9 Pro runs on MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9500 chipset, which brings major gains in performance, AI, and graphics. Paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, it flies through anything you throw at it.

On AnTuTu, it scores a whopping 3,463,273 points, easily among the fastest Android flagships out there. What’s impressive is how cool it stays even under stress, hitting just around 37°C, thanks to Oppo’s new vapour chamber cooling system that’s 33.7% larger this time.

For software, we have ColorOS 16 which ties it all together with its smooth animations, polished interface, and genuinely useful AI features that make daily tasks easier.

First Impressions

After spending some time with the Oppo Find X9 Pro, it’s clear this phone isn’t just about flashy specs; it’s more about balance. The design feels mature, the display is stunning, and the cameras seem genuinely capable. Add in that huge battery, smooth ColorOS 16, and cool, consistent performance, and you’ve got a device that feels every bit flagship ready.

Oppo hasn’t tried to reinvent the wheel here. It’s simply polished every part of it to near perfection. If these first impressions are anything to go by, the Find X9 Pro might just be one of 2025’s most well-rounded flagships.
