71st National Film Awards: G V Prakash Kumar is riding high on the wave of national recognition once again. The acclaimed composer, actor, and producer has bagged the National Film Award for Best Music Direction (Songs) for the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Vaathi, adding another prestigious feather to his already decorated cap. Known for his emotionally rich and melodically strong scores, Prakash took to social media shortly after the announcement, calling it “a blessing for the second time.”
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), G V Prakash thanked the 71st National Awards jury and selection committee, along with the entire team of Vaathi. He expressed special gratitude to actor Dhanush, his long-time collaborator, for bringing him on board the project. Their creative partnership, which spans films like Polladhavan, Asuran, Vaathi, and the upcoming Idly Kadai, has been “creatively fulfilling and rewarding,” he wrote.
He also credited director Venky Atluri for inspiring him to deliver his best and trusting him with the film’s music. Thanking producers Nagavamsi and Trivikram for their faith in his talent, Prakash acknowledged everyone who supported him—his family, lyricists, musicians, technicians, friends, and fans. Signing off with “Thank you, Universe,” the composer made it clear that the award is not just a personal win, but a moment of collective celebration for everyone who walked this journey with him.
