Japanese air-conditioning manufacturer, Daikin has invested Rs 500 crore on a new research and development (R&D) centre at Neemrana in Rajasthan which will develop products for exports from India.
This will be Daikin's third R&D facility in India which will employ over 500 people. It will tailor make products in line with energy standards, technology and refrigerant. It will have 22 new testing facilities and labs suitable to develop all HVACR solutions, the company said in a release.
Naofumi Takenaka, president and COO for the parent Daikin Industries, said India is a critical market for the company and the rationale behind setting up this R&D centre is to invest in technologies that suit both domestic and foreign conditions.
Daikin India chairman and managing director KJ Jawa said the company has so far invested Rs 2,800 crore in developing world-class infrastructure across the country reinforcing its long-term commitment to India.
The company has a manufacturing plant in Neemrana too and this R&D centre will enable close coordination with production teams, enhancing synergy and productivity, it said. It already runs a mechanical R&D and an AI-IOT lab located at Neemrana and Hyderabad respectively.
