A few days ago, Kamal Haasan at an event stated that "Kannada (language) was born out of Tamil." This didn't go down well with pro-Kannada groups, political leaders, and members of the film industry. Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) had announced that if Kamal Haasan doesn't apologise by Friday, they won't allow the release of his next film Thug Life in Karnataka. Recently, while talking to India Today, the veteran actor stated that if he isn't wrong, he won't apologise.
He said, "If I'm wrong, I'll apologise. If I'm not, I won't. This is my lifestyle, please don't tamper with it. India is a democratic country, and I believe in law and justice." When Haasan was asked about the threats (of his film not getting a release in Karnataka), he said, "I've been threatened before."

Hello @ikamalhaasan before making such claims, learn some real history. This land doesn’t need language lessons from Periyar fanatics🤡

Kamal Haasan-Kannada Controversy
During an event of Thug Life, Kamal Haasan stated, "My life and my family is Tamil. Actor Shivarajkumar (from Karnataka) is my family living in another state. That's why he is here. That's why when I started my speech, I said ‘my life and my family is Tamil’. Your language (Kannada) was born out of Tamil. So you are included in that line."
Thug Life Release Date
Directed by Mani Ratnam, Thug Life, which is a Tamil film, is slated to release on June 5, 2025. It will be dubbed and released in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. We wonder if, after so much controversy if the film will get a clear release in Karnataka. Let's wait and watch!
