Navi Mumbai: In a significant push towards enhancing the quality of life under the government’s 'Ease of Living' initiative, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has successfully provided over 2.73 lakh new electricity connections across Kalyan and Bhandup circles during the financial year 2024-25. These connections span across residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural categories.
Acknowledging electricity as a basic necessity, the initiative aims to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply to consumers, while also streamlining the process of providing new connections.
Following directives from Mahavitaran’s Managing Director, Lokesh Chandra, and adhering to the standards set by the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC), the company focused on delivering timely connections and addressing consumer complaints on priority, said a statement released by MSEDCL.
In the Kalyan circle, a total of 1,50,471 new connections were issued, including 1,38,570 single-phase and 11,901 three-phase connections. The Vasai division recorded the highest number with 53,710 connections, followed by Kalyan Division Office II with 39,239, Kalyan Division Office I with 31,905, and the Palghar division with 25,617 new connections.
Meanwhile, the Bhandup circle saw 1,22,936 new connections, comprising 1,03,925 single-phase and 19,011 three-phase installations. The Vashi division led the numbers with 52,472 connections, followed by the Pen division with 36,807, and Thane City division with 33,657 connections.
"MSEDCL’s efforts highlight its commitment to providing swift, efficient, and reliable power services in alignment with the state’s broader developmental goals," said an official from MSEDCL.
