Satna (Madhya Pradesh): A guard from Satna district has been murdered at a casino carnival in the Camble area of Panaji in Goa.
The guard was identified as 33-year-old Dheeru Sharma, a resident of the Sohaula Sohawal area in the district. According to the police, the incident took place on the night of May 28.
Dheeru was on duty at the main gate of the casino with his colleague Satyam Gawkar.
He had a dispute with another person who picked up a stick from the staircase of the casino and attacked the guard. Dheeru sustained severe injuries to the head and died on the spot. The other guard, Satyam, was rushed to the hospital.
The police arrested the accused from Dabolim airport with the help of CCTV footage. He was going to catch a Hyderabad-bound flight. The accused has been identified as Abdul Altaf, a resident of Mishri Ganj, Hyderabad.
According to the police, several criminal cases have been registered against the accused.
The police sent the body for a postmortem and informed his family members about the incident. The family members of Dheeru Sharma demanded action against the owner of the casino.
Dheeru had been working as guard in various hotels during the past ten years, his elder brother Rambahadur Sharma said. A few days ago, Dheeru visited home, Rambahadur said.
Dheeru had been working in the casino for the past two years. He further said he had received the information about the murder of his brother at 3am. The casino owner is offering excuses for sending the body of Dheeru, who is survived by two sons and a wife.
Man held for murder over water dispute
The police claimed to have arrested a man for murdering another person after a dispute over filling water. According to reports, a woman, resident of Pokhra Tola, Nayee Basti, Bharee, lodged a complaint on May 29 that her husband, Rajendra Kol, had a dispute with Vijay Kol over collecting water. Vijay picked up a stick and hit Rajendra in the head.
He was sent to a hospital where he died on May 30. The police arrested Vijay and sent him to jail.
