UP News: Severe Flooding In Bulandshahr's Ahar Region As Ganga River Overflows, Causing Widespread Damage

Send Push

Bulandshahr’s Ahar region witnessed severe flooding as the Ganga River overflowed following continuous rainfall, causing extensive destruction to property, agriculture, and infrastructure. The rising water levels swept away four temples Ganga Mandir, Hanuman Mandir, Guru Gorakhnath Mandir, and Jahrveer Baba Mandir along with three  dharamshalas that had served as key shelters for pilgrims and locals.

The floodwater engulfed the Khadar region, submerging thousands of bighas of farmland. Crops of paddy, sugarcane, and other seasonal produce were left underwater, dealing a heavy economic blow to local farmers. Several villages have been cut off as water entered residential areas, severely disrupting daily life. Access to the Siddh Baba Ganga Ghat has been completely blocked, with floodwater flowing over approach roads. A 10-metre section of a recently built concrete road collapsed under the strong current, compounding challenges for the administration.

Officials have launched relief and rescue operations, but the persistent rise in water levels is hampering progress. Teams are relocating affected residents to safer locations and arranging food and shelter. Villagers have appealed for immediate assistance and rehabilitation support as the extent of crop loss and damage to public infrastructure becomes clearer.

The situation remains tense as forecasts predict continued rainfall, raising concerns over further flooding in low lying areas.
