Lucknow: In his latest outreach under Janta Darshan, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met over 60 citizens at his Lucknow residence, addressing complaints ranging from land encroachments to pension delays. While the CM reiterated the government’s commitment to citizen welfare, the session underscored growing regional disparities and administrative lag.
Prayagraj alone accounted for 8 grievances, 13% of the day’s total, prompting fresh scrutiny of the district’s governance, already ranked 19th statewide. Land disputes (22 cases), pension delays (15), and infrastructure deficiencies made up the bulk of issues raised. Health-related concerns, such as Ayushman Bharat claim rejections and PHC shortages—also featured prominently.
Despite mandating 15-day resolution timelines, past follow-ups tell a different story: only 54% of January’s 217 cases met deadlines, while 18% remain unresolved due to jurisdictional conflicts. Critics further highlighted the underrepresentation of Bundelkhand districts and Scheduled Caste petitioners, even as 21% of statewide SC/ST welfare cases remain pending.
The CM’s symbolic gestures, including chocolate distribution to children, were juxtaposed with complainants demanding urgent action on delayed FIRs and encroachments.
Administrative data reveals Western UP contributed 32% of complaints versus 18% from Eastern UP—a continuing three-month pattern attributed by officials to “higher awareness,” though observers cite systemic neglect elsewhere.
The Chief Minister directed a review of Prayagraj’s performance but past directives for Mirzapur and Sonbhadra yielded only 40% and 37% compliance, respectively, raising concerns about the long-term impact of Janta Darshan initiatives.
