host was left stunned during a particularly tough house hunt - in which one house hunter was seen walking away. The property expert was seen assisting Jane and James in locating their ideal sun-soaked abode on Tuesday's programme. With £130,000 in their pocket, the couple set out to snap up a holiday pad in eastern Crete, a location with a deeply personal connection for the pair.

The couple previously said they wanted "a champagne house for a lemonade budget," which left the host stretching his head. Reminiscing on the area, James said: "We had our very first holiday in Crete, we got engaged in Pathos and we came to our honeymoon in Crete."

They were on the lookout for a two-bedroom abode close to the shore, but Craig warned them about the area's steep average property prices of about £190,000. Still, Jane and James were prepared to bend a little for their ideal spot. Their journey kicked off positively as they took a shine to a quaint two-bedroom stone village house in Limnes.

Listed at £119,658, it quickly became a serious option for them. However, the mood dipped as they visited the second prospect. They toured a three-bedroom stone house in Episkopi next, and with the sandy stretches nearby, Craig was hopeful it would fit the bill for the pair.

Yet Jane took one look at the place and had none of it, expressing her dislike for the interior with a firm: "No it's too small. I'm not feeling it." When Craig offered a full tour of the house, Jane decided to leave, leaving James to check out the terrace which did little more than hammer home their initial impressions.

Craig, taken aback by the swift rejection, remarked: "I had halved the time it takes them to get the beach so I had high hopes for this one. But they really didn't like it."

The pair's disappointment with subsequent properties led them to reconsider their budget, bumping it up by a hefty £30,000. Undeterred, Craig remained optimistic, telling them: "I've got one more chance to impress you, my rather demanding house-hunters."

However, the search ended in an anticlimax as none of the properties hit the mark, with Jane and James acknowledging they needed to reassess their strategy.

"To be brutally honest, we got ourselves a bit confused. What we thought we wanted, we realised it maybe wasn't that at all," said James. "We like quirky, we like different, but as a holiday home we don't want to come out and do a lot of maintenance work."
