A 63-year-old British has died after a horror fall from a historic monument's viewing platform. The Briton fell to his death from the aqueduct in . services were called at around 1.05pm local time after horrified witnesses reported seeing the man tumble from an observation deck.

The platform the Brit fell from is situated near the cities Obispo Gandásegui Street. Emergency crews rushed to the scene after receiving multiple desperate calls from horrified onlookers, but their attempts to save the tourist tragically failed.

The 63-year-old is believed to have travelled to Segovia last Thursday with two other visitors. The historic city of Segovia, northwest of Madrid, is famous for its rich architecture - medieval walls and Gothic buildings.
Segovia is best known for its iconic grand Roman aqueduct, which was built in the first century AD. The huge structure has more than 160 arches and is well-preserved despite its age.
At it's tallest point the aqueduct is 28.5 meters and it stretches a stunning 794 meters in length. It was originally built to move water for miles from fresh springs in mountains to the city.
