Matheus Cunha has clashed with Wolves fans on social media after swiftly deleting an eye-catching post. Cunha is available to play for in their match against on Sunday, having for clashing with ’s Milos Kerkez last month.
The Brazilian was hoping to come back with a bang against Spurs, but has already marred his potential return with some feisty words on social media. Posting a black and white photo of himself in training on his story, Cunha wrote: “Time to be happy. I will follow my dreams, not yours. So stay cool.”
– and in the summer transfer window – that was never likely to go down well with the club’s fans. Cunha perhaps knew this and decided to delete his post – but not before a fan account called Talking Wolves took a screenshot and shared it with their followers.
Cunha took exception to this and replied to the account, writing: “Do you know what you want? For people to not like me here, unfortunately I’m going to the field to solve the problem of your favourite club. I’m not here looking for alternatives to be someone important. Fans root for their own, they don’t create misfortunes all the time.”

Talking Wolves replied: “Completely false. You would have seen us praising you and supporting you from day one. We’re reporting the news and what’s happening. Stop blaming your personal mistakes on us.”
Cunha wasn’t done there and replied: “I’m sorry but that’s exactly what you want. The first one to report fake news, not what was really in the news, I make a video and pretend it’s irrelevant.
“What you don’t understand is that you are an opinion maker, if you don’t like me, that’s fine friend. And in the end, every negative interpretation you have is the first one to try to reproduce. Let’s do the following. In common we only have the Wolves that I love so much.”

The 25-year-old replaced his first effort with a new caption which read “So happy to be back tomorrow”, but the damage had already been done.
Cunha has been impressive on the pitch this season, scoring 15 goals in 29 matches across all competitions to help steer Wolves clear of the Premier League’s relegation places. But his temper, having been banned twice this season, and his stated desire to “take the next step” elsewhere, has irritated Wolves supporters.
Wolves boss Vitor Pereira has already confirmed that Cunha won’t go straight back into the starting line-up on Sunday. “No,” he said when asked if he will start. “He is committed. He is working and preparing himself to help the team, but we won the last three games playing consistently – tactically and mentally.
“What is fair? Fair is to keep going with the same team. This is my opinion, and this is football. This is commitment, and this is leadership. Matheus will come to help us. He is committed. He understands because I have had a conversation with him, but I will play with the same team.”
