Ne-Yo has revealed the number one rule his four girlfriends live by: “What I say goes... and you can’t date other men.”

Earlier this year, the R&B crooner, 45, , introducing them to his four partners, Cristina ("Pretty Baby"), Arielle ("Twin Flame"), Moneii ("Phoenix Feather"), and Bri ("Sexy Lil' Somethin’”). He has been pursuing the polyamorous life since his 2023 divorce from Crystal Renay.

In a new interview with US radio host Angie Martinez, Ne-Yo, real name Shaffer Chimere Smith, shared some of the inner workings of his harem, who he calls ‘The Pyramid’.

When he was asked if the women are allowed to date other men, he explained: "No, no they are not.

“When I got with these women, I did not ask for their exclusivity. I did not demand their exclusivity. They asked for it. They came to me and said, 'I want to be exclusive to you and just you.'

"I said, 'You understand that your exclusivity to me, does not mean my exclusivity to you? You understand this, yes? You're OK with it?'" Ne-Yo added that honesty is at the heart of the dynamic, and that the women are free to leave at any time.

He said: "The main rule is to just keep it a buck. We're not gonna lie. We're not gonna lie to each other. We're not gonna sit up here and blow smoke. I ain't selling no dreams, and I'm not forcing anybody to be here.

"If for whatever reason you decide this isn't for you anymore, the door is never locked.

"You have permission to go on about your business. I don't want anybody to think that I'm manipulating these women into doing something they don't want to do."

In the same interview, he admitted that the biggest challenge he and his ‘wives’ face is time due to his busy schedule and his parenting responsibilities. Ne-Yo has seven children, Madilyn, Mason, Shaffer Jr., Roman, Isabella, Braiden, and Brixton.

Three are shared with his ex-wife, two with his ex-fiancée, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Monyetta Shaw-Carter, and two others with influencer Sade Jenea Bagnerise.

Ne-Yo said: “One of the major challenges is time, because I don't have a lot of free time, I have seven beautiful children. I have a career that is still moving like it’s 2005, in this thing, I move around a lot, so I don't have a lot of free time, and everybody needs their own individual time.

“You know, we do things as a group, but in a relationship like this, you have to make sure that individual time is just as poignant as group time. There's certain situations where one may feel like this one is getting a little more attention, or this one is getting a little more time, or something like that.

“But whenever that happens, I bring everybody together, we all hash it out right then and there. 'OK, bring your issue to the table, and we resolve it as a group'. That's the only way it works.”

Other celebrities who have decided more is more when it comes to the bedroom include Playboy boss Hugh Hefner, and Mariah Carey's ex-husband Nick Cannon, who has an army of baby mothers.

A few weeks ago, Ne-Yo explained that while he has been on tour, he has been allocating each girlfriend a week of his time before bringing them all together at the end and go out as a five some.

He said: “On the tour, I’ll let this one come out for for seven days, then she go home, then this one will come out for seven days, and then this one will come out for seven days, and then we do something altogether.

“They all get along with each other and have no problem hanging out with each other, but I think one of the most important things about this is understanding that these are four individuals that need their time.”

He then joked that it was “way harder” when he was dating multiple women on the sly and he regretted the amount of time and energy he had “wasted” cheating, when he could have just embraced a poly relationship.
