Hoping to avoid Putin's draconian laws against criticising his terror , Orlova said: “I apologise that I didn't think before I said it and caused such a reaction from you…. All I wanted to do was to highlight the issue, but I failed miserably….

“Again, I sincerely apologise for my ill-considered words. In fact, I sincerely feel sorry for those men who have been victimised by ungodly girls. I apologise to everyone, the [war] participants, the mothers, the widows, the wives. I am truly sorry.”

The podcaster claimed she was expressing “sarcasm against unscrupulous women who seduce men and take advantage of their gullibility for their own enrichment”.

Despite her desperate plea, Orlova could face up to seven years in prison for the podcast - after Russia’s Investigative Committee and Prosecutor General's Office stepped in, claiming she was advising women to marry to cash in on compensation payments.
