Travis Kelce's dad reveals even more secrets behind Taylor Swift engagement

Travis Kelce's dad has revealed even more details about his engagementto Taylor Swift. Ed Kelce's insight comes after the couple announced their engagement in a post on social media earlier this week.

Taylor, 35, and Travis, also 35, who went public with their relationship two years ago, shared the news on Instagram yesterday. Their joint post included photos of them surrounded by flowers at a location that has since been identified as the garden at Travis' home.

Since the news broke, Travis' father Ed, 74, has provided details about the proposal in interviews. As previously reported, it has included him sharing the Kansas City Chiefs player got down on one knee around two weeks ago.

Ed gave some details in an interview on the Jimmy & Nath Show with Emma. Whilst appearing on the radio show, he spoke about Travis' team hiding in bushes amid the proposal and Taylor potentially realising what was to come.

He said on the show that Travis had encouraged Taylor to go into the garden with him for a glass of wine before leaving the property for a meal out. He said that she may have realised it was a proposal once she was outside.

Ed suggested that there were more flowers there than usual. Ed said: "I think she knew something was up because as they approached, as they walked out there, she could see suddenly there's a lot more flowers out there."

In the interview, Ed said his son's garden had been decorated by people that "help Travis out with a lot of things". He added: "They got it all ready. They actually saw them coming and hid in the bushes so they weren't part of it."

Asked how long his son had the ring before popping the question, Ed said: "Oh, I don't know. I think I saw it earlier in the summer, like maybe July." He said that Travis had been "ready" but "had a lot going on" over the last few months.

Ed said in the interview that Travis and Taylor kept the news of the engagement "quiet for a while". He suggested that the decision was to distance it from her announcining her new album, the Life of a Showgirl, earlier this month. He said: "You don't want to take away the energy from that."

His comments come after Taylor and Travis announced their engagement yesterday. The couple shared a series of photos from the proposal, including showcasing the ring, and were met with well wishes from fans at the time.

In the caption of their post, next to a TNT emoji, Taylor and Travis wrote: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married." The post included Taylor's song So High School, which appeared on her last album, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, released last year.
