Dubai: Pakistan posted 171/5 in their quota of 20 overs in the Asia Cup Super 4 clash against India at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday evening.
Having been asked to bat first after Suryakumar Yadav won the toss, Pakistan made a belligerent start, going at nine runs an over.
The top-order batters went after India’s trump card Jasprit Bumrah, and even the normally miserly Kuldeep Yadav. An off-colour Bumrah conceded 34 runs in three overs, the most he has conceded in power play of a T20 International.
Opener Sahibzada Farhan (58 off 45 balls, 5×4, 3×6) was the main aggressor as Pakistan raced to 91/1 in 10 overs.
However, Shivam Dube (2/33), Kuldeep Yadav (1/31) and Varun Chakravarthy (0/25) pulled things back for India, conceding no more than 80 runs in the last 10 overs.
India’s catching left a lot to be desired, with two simple chances were grassed by Kuldeep and Shubman Gill, while a couple of half chances were not accepted either.
