Condensation on windows can lead to increased dampness and mould within the home. Fortunately, one of Britain's most beloved cleaning experts, Lynsey Crombie, also known as "Queen of Clean", has revealed a simple trick using a common kitchen staple. She explains that washing-up liquid serves as an effective remedy to minimise and prevent condensation.
Have you ever wondered why your windows become foggy? Condensation is the perpetrator. It happens when warm, humid air encounters a cold surface such as a window, resulting in water droplets.

The brilliance of washing-up liquid in tackling and preventing condensation lies in its simplicity, reports Leicestershire Live.
A straightforward application of washing-up liquid can form an invisible barrier on the glass - and you only need a tiny amount of the product.
Lynsey's advice is uncomplicated: "Pop a tiny amount [of washing-up liquid] onto a dry microfibre cloth and rub all over the glass pane."
She promises "you won't get smears as you are using the tiniest amount" of washing-up liquid.
Additionally, Lynsey reveals: "This creates a barrier and prevents condensation. This is such a brilliant old-school tip that works so well."
Opting for this cost-effective approach could mean dodging the expense of purchasing a costly dehumidifier.
However, the key to controlling window moisture lies in maintaining humidity balance across your property.
Colder external temperatures and the expense associated with operating a tumble dryer frequently lead to indoor clothes drying, but this only increases moisture levels in your dwelling.
To avoid the typical pitfalls of drying clothes indoors, Lynsey recommends positioning a clothes horse in a space "with good ventilation".
Pinpointing the brightest room in your property can prove advantageous for situating washing near an open window to air-dry.
"Close the door to this room whilst the window is open," Lynsey advised.
Tasks like preparing meals and bathing can also bring extra dampness into the property, so cracking open a window slightly can help in stopping condensation and mould from developing.
