Once again 's tariffs were the topic of discussion on ITV's . Hosts Charlotte Hawkins and welcomed on businessman John Caudwell as he gave his scathing verdict on the impact that the American President's tariffs will have on the rest of the world.
Appearing live from Staffordshire, the money mogul told the : "There is going to be a massive impact everywhere. You know, the world is moving towards a recession in most countries and it's going to be disastrous for all economies, but even worse for the . I believe the animosity that is creating is going to last for many, many years and possibly even decades."
He continued: "The only positive side I can see out of any of this really is around $3 trillion a year coming into the exchequer of the US. But contrary to that, you've got all the damage to GDP growth in the US and around the world.
"And also, you have the inflationary context of this that will happen as a result of the tariffs, so the American people are probably going to end up being worse off, maybe short, medium and long term."
Richard Madeley also took a swipe at the President's actions. "Making predictions about what Donald Trump is going to do next, I think, as most people will agree, is a mug's game," he said.
The comments come after US Vice President JD Vance said that "there is a good chance" of a UK-US trade deal. The politician said: "We are working very hard with . The President loves the United Kingdom and loved . He admires and loves . It's a very important relationship, and he is a businessman and has a number of important business relationships with Britain."
"But it goes deeper than that," he added. "I think there is a good chance that, yes, we will come to a great agreement that is in the best interests of both countries."
Speaking about the VP's comments on Tuesday's episode of , Charlotte said: "I think the key word there is that he is describing it as a 'great' agreement, a 'great' trade deal, which obviously will be very pleasing for the government as at the moment we're a bit lumped in with everyone else aren't we and the level of tariff."
