Escape to the Country host issues warning to couple before huge upset

Send Push

BBC host Steve Brown issued a firm warning to an eager couple on the latest episode of Escape to the Country when they became wholly smitten with one property.

On Friday (April 11), Steve was navigating Jann and Steve's journey to relocate back to the British Isles after their stint in Spain, with a hearty £500,000 to find their idyllic "forever home" in either Shropshire or Herefordshire, keen on village community life.

The initial property piqued the couple's interest, but it was the second viewing that truly captivated them.

As they took in the striking appeal of the second house, Jann and Steve were enamoured, praising its "beautiful" nature and how it ticked almost all boxes for being "just about perfect".

Caught up in their admiration for every nook and cranny, presenter Steve had to intervene to temper their excitement, having yet only skimmed the surface of the property.

Plus the knowledge of how precarious property pursuits could be led him to quip: "Well, let's not get carried away! We've only just started.", reports .

To which Jann responded, overwhelmed by the home's charm: "I don't think I want to see anymore because I'm afraid I'll like it even more!".

Priced at £495,000, the barn conversion seemed to steal the hearts of the couple, who were ready to make a swift offer.

Further into the program, a delighted Jann and Steve divulged they had arranged another walkthrough with the estate agent for the following day, prepared to hasten proceedings.

Regrettably, Jann and Steve didn't have a fairy-tale ending with their house sale and failed to secure the home they had fallen in love with.

Presenter Steve revealed: "Steve and Jann made an offer on the barn conversion but sadly, they were outbid. Undeterred, they returned to Spain and are now packing up their apartment. They secured a rental cottage in Somerset and hope to be back in the UK for good immediately so they continue the search for their dream home in the country."

Escape to the Country airs Mondays-Fridays at 3pm on BBC One
