has suggested British troops could help secure a post-war Ukraine which would be carved up "like Berlin after World War II".
Berlin was divided into four between the US, Britain and France and the Soviet Union, with each party operating a zone of control.
General Keith Kellogg, who visited Kyiv in recent months for talks with President Zelensky, said UK and French forces could carry out a similar duty in Ukraine today, as happened in the German capital after the Second World War.
However, it's understood the plan would mean ceding 20% of Ukrainian territory in the east of the country to Vladimir Putin's Russia.
Gen. Kellogg, 80, said if a peace deal was reached with the Kremlin, he did not believe an Anglo-French peacekeeping force in Ukraine would be "provocative at all" to Putin.
A map published by the Sun shows how British and French ground forces would support the Ukrainians west of the Dnipro River, which runs north to south through the middle of Ukraine. There would also be an 18-mile-wide North Korean-style demilitarised zone separating any Russia territory from Ukrainian, or French and British-monitored territory.
East of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, only Ukrainian forces would be able to operate, under Gen. Kellogg's plan, and they would cover the eastern parts of the country around Sumy and Kharkiv, which not controlled by Russia at this time.
Moscow would be left with all the land in Ukraine's far east, as well as the Crimea which was seized by Russia in 2014.
Meanwhile, European countries vowed on Friday to sends billions of pounds in further funding to help Ukraine keep fighting Russia's invasion.
The unleashing of more funds comes as a US envoy pursued peace efforts in a trip to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin amid growing questions about the Kremlin's willingness to stop the more than three-year war.
In Russia, the Kremlin said Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff met with Mr Putin in St. Petersburg. Mr Witkoff, who has been pressing the Kremlin to accept a truce, initially met with Mr Putin's envoy Kirill Dmitriev, footage released by Russian media showed.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Mr Witkoff during his visit to Russia was discussing efforts to end the war with officials.
She claimed: "This is another step in the negotiating process towards a ceasefire and an ultimate peace deal."
