Drivers faced delays on the M5 on Thursday after two serious incidents this morning. The motorway was closed between Junction 3 at Quinton to J2 at Oldbury after reports of a body on the carriage way.
Concurrently, emergency services were also summoned to scene of a "serious collision" which led to the closure of the northbound carriageway between Junction 1 for West Bromwich and the M6. The M5 has is now fully reopened following the incidents, National Highways has confirmed.
In a statement earlier addressing the cause of both closures, a West Midlands Police spokesperson said the disruption followed a "collision involving two vehicles and a motorcyclist at about 10am with the rider being taken to hospital for injuries which are not believed to be life-changing".
"In a separate incident, a body found on the carriageway is not being treated as suspicious and we are preparing a file for the coroner," they added, as per .
