Man Utd 'consider move' for £40m Aleksandar Mitrovic after being burned by Chelsea

are reportedly weighing up a move for Alekasandar Mitrovic. Old Trafford chiefs have been forced to engage plan B after missing out on Chelsea-bound Liam Delap, who started the summer as their top striker target.

Delap is expected to formalise his Chelsea move today (Monday), with his medical in the process of being completed and agreements in place for a £30million switch from . United are still in desperate need of a prolific centre-forward, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both on the chopping block after poor individual seasons. Al-Hilal paid around £50m to sign Mitrovic from Fulham in 2023, and despite the fact he will turn 31 in September, the Saudi Pro League side reportedly want to recoup if they allow him to move on.

The Red Devils may be limited in the calibre of striker they can pursue this summer after missing out on Champions League qualification. European football is said to have played a significant role in Delap choosing Stamford Bridge over Old Trafford, and it could also hamper moves for the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.

United have already confirmed the £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and further acquisitions are on the horizon. Antony, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are all set to leave United to make room for new arrivals, while the futures of Hojlund and Zirkzee hang in the balance.
