"We informed customers on Tuesday that there was no need for them to take any action. That remains the case, and if the situation changes we will let them know," the company said.
An investigation is underway, and a dedicated team supported by cybersecurity experts is working to restore services.
"Our experienced team - supported by leading cyber experts - is working extremely hard to restart online and app shopping," M&S added.
No further details have been released about the nature of the incident, and M&S has not said when services are expected to return.
The supermarket ended the statement by thanking customers for their patience: "We are incredibly grateful to our customers, colleagues and partners for their understanding and support."
