Indeed, Trump failed to mention Prince Harry in his gratitude speech, but according to Carratt this was because Harry and Meghan were not in attendance.

Carratt, Director of E20 Communications Carratt said: "While the state visit wasn't without controversy, it did appear to go well from the side of the Royal Family and without a doubt helped to improve UK-US relations and the public stage has been reset."

The royal author said: "I think the Trump visit is important for King Charles and the royal family more broadly because it's a chance to display their soft power skills and, in turn, the value or benefits they can offer Britain (which are questioned more and more in recent times)."

Maclaran revealed the US President's true motivation for seeking out meetings with the Royal Family at every opportunity.

She added: "It is well known that Trump admires the Royal Family and seeks status through meeting them."

The PR specialist explained: "In my personal opinion I don't think it was a jab, I believe it was a deliberate omission, the state banquet was official business for the Royal Family and Donald Trump, and as Harry has stepped away as a working Royal, it is unlikely he would be mentioned."
