Stubborn stains on wooden tables and furniture can be very frustrating. Cups and mugs can often leave rings on the wooden surface, while spillages can sometimes feel impossible to completely remove.
While most homeowners may opt for traditional methods to remove marks, such as baking soda and water, there are slightly more unusual ways to get rid of stains from wood. Experts recommend using a random snack to remove marks, describing it as a "wood-specific hack".
As reported by The Spruce, cleaning expert Jade Piper revealed that walnuts can get rid of stains from wood. She explained: "The walnut trick only works on unfinished or lightly finished wood. It's really just a wood-specific hack."
People are advised to crack open a walnut before rubbing it into the stain. They should then let it soak in for around five to 10 minutes before using a cloth to remove any leftover oil.
Walnuts are effective cleaners because they have a high oil content. They work similarly to wood conditioners that you can buy online or in shops.
The natural oils act like a polish, darkening and nourishing the marked area to blend in with the wood. Experts say the method is best for rough and partially-finished wood, as well as white and hazy stains.

Flooring and wood expert Yuri Grakovski said: "When the walnut is rubbed into the wood, it moistens the dry spot and helps bring the stain in line with the surrounding grain.
"The rubbing friction also generates a small quantity of heat, which can open up the pores of the wood sufficiently and facilitate the penetration of the oil."
He added: "It's better to think of it as a camouflaging and conditioning technique instead of a chemical fix."
The expert recommends using "raw, shelled English walnuts" to clean. They tend to work best as they have a high oil content.
