Three people have been injured in a horror shooting in Times Square, New York City. At around 1.20am local time (6.20am BST), panicked crowds were seen fleeing from the popular tourist spot in Manhattan as a huge police presence descended on the scene located between West 44th Street and 7th Avenue.
A police spokesperson has said that the violence erupted after a "verbal dispute between two people escalated". A 65-year-old man and a 19-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds, while an 18-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with a wound to her neck. The gunman is reportedly a minor, aged just 17. The suspected shooter has been taken into custody and officers recovered a firearm at the scene. The teenager has not been identified because of his age and charges have reportedly not been filed thus far.
