Jaipur: Confusion in the mention of a doctor's name in the transfer lists of nursing officers issued about three months ago has led to a doctor not yet joining her new place of posting.
The health department's non-gazetted section had issued a transfer list for nursing officers on Jan 15, 2025. The 12th name in the list was of a doctor who was directed to take charge as a nursing officer at Umaid Hospital in Jodhpur. The doctor, Ranjana Naraniya, is currently posted as a senior medical officer at Bonli Community Health Centre in Sawai Madhopur district. In the transfer list for nursing officers, her name was also mentioned, and her designation was listed as a nursing officer. She was transferred to Umaid Hospital, Jodhpur, as a nursing officer.
Even though the health department accepted the mistake in the order, the correction was not made in the three months since, and the confusion over the order persists, said officials. Upon noticing this error, Sawai Madhopur's chief medical health officer (CMHO) Dr Anil Kumar Jaimini alerted senior officials, requesting corrections to the order. But the CMHO still awaits a clarification from govt regarding the doctor's transfer status.
"The transfer letter erroneously designated the doctor as a nursing officer," said Dr Jaimini. The confusion prevails as to whether Dr Naraniya's name was mistakenly included in the list or if she was transferred to Umaid Hospital as a doctor and not as a nursing officer. According to a health department officials, she is currently holding the charge of a block chief medical officer at Bonli.
There were other mistakes in the transfer list, too, but those have been corrected, said officials. In two places, nurses who were serving as auxiliary nurse midwives were mentioned as nursing officers. A senior health department official said that in such situations, corrections in the orders are made when they come to notice.
