Several Bollywood stars recently made bold fashion statements at a glitzy event in Mumbai, but not everyone on the internet was impressed. Celebrities such as Sushmita Sen, Wamiqa Gabbi, Huma Qureshi, Sunny Leone, Babil Khan, and others attended a themed costume event called Costume for a Cause. While the stars clearly went all out with their outfits, many online viewers were left baffled.

Social media users had mixed reactions to the celebrity fashion choices, with some calling the event a “Sasta version of Met Gala” (a cheaper version of the Met Gala) of viral reels of Viral Bhayani and others joking that it resembled a “fancy dress competition” or even “Halloween.” Let’s take a look at some of the most talked-about outfits of the night.

Sushmita Sen arrived in a unique all-black gown that had a futuristic twist. The dress featured full sleeves, a high neckline, and a dramatic skirt with pleats. It was designed to look like it had sheer panels and stripes. She added a black beret and bold makeup to complete the look.

Wamiqa Gabbi chose a dark and dramatic outfit. Her strapless sequin gown had a deep neckline and a big, fluffy skirt with faux feathers. She wore a sheer black veil over her head and a headpiece covered in butterflies and feathers. Her makeup was bold with shimmery pink eyeshadow and winged eyeliner.

Huma Qureshi wore a pearl-white silk blazer with a unique twist. Black pleated tulle was attached around her waist and legs, and her wide-legged pants had a matching design. A white sheer headpiece, pink lipstick, and dramatic eyeliner completed her look.

Sunny Leone went for a classic black suit with an oversized and boxy style. The blazer had sharp shoulders and interesting shapes like circles and triangles on the front. Her hair was styled in a bun, and she kept her makeup elegant with pink lips and winged eyeliner.

Ahsaas Channa turned heads with a strapless blue and pink dress. The dress had an uneven hem, a cinched waist, and a long train. But what stood out the most were her stuffed-toy-inspired shoes and a heart-shaped beaded handbag.

Even though many of these looks were meant to be creative and fun, online reactions show that viewers didn’t quite connect with the fashion theme. Some appreciated the effort, while others felt it missed the mark. Still, the event definitely made people talk, and it seems the stars weren’t afraid to take risks on the red carpet.
