NEW DELHI: Suryakumar Yadav lit up Wankhede Stadium with a sublime 73 not out off 43 balls as Mumbai Indians clinched the final IPL 2025 playoff spot with a crushing 59-run win over Delhi Capitals .
But it was his emotional tribute off the field that won hearts as much as his fireworks on it.

Following his Player of the Match performance, Suryakumar dedicated the award to his wife, Devisha Shetty , in a heartfelt gesture that stood out during the rain-hit post-match presentation.
Who's that IPL player?
“It’s been 13 games now. My wife told me a sweet story today. She said you’ve got all the awards except Man of the Match. This award is special today. From the team’s point of view, the knock was important, and also, this trophy is for her. She waits for such moments and we celebrate it obviously, looking forward to it,” he shared, umbrella in hand as showers lashed the stadium.

Mumbai, at one stage tottering at 58/3, found hope in Suryakumar's steady hand and explosive finish. He waited patiently before launching a late assault, particularly in the final over where he dismantled Dushmantha Chameera with two sixes and two fours.
Credit also went to youngster Naman Dhir, whose 27-run blitz in the 19th over off Mukesh Kumar shifted the momentum. “We knew there was one over of 15–20 runs somewhere, so we had to wait till the end. The way Naman came in and shared that energy with me was also a turning point,” Suryakumar noted.
With this win, Mumbai sealed the final playoff spot, joining Royal Challengers Bengaluru , Gujarat Titans, and Punjab Kings in the knockout phase. The remaining league games will determine the final standings ahead of the playoffs.
