Himmat Singh , a 28-year-old top-order batter from Delhi, made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for Lucknow Supergiants on Saturday. He replaces star Australian batter Mitchell Marsh , who is in exceptional form this season. Marsh is unavailable for Saturday’s clash as his daughter is unwell.
Himmat Singh, a consistent performer in domestic T20 cricket, has represented Delhi in 55 matches, scoring 917 runs. He caught the eye during the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy , scoring 197 runs in 8 innings at a blistering strike rate of 148. Further cementing his reputation, Singh had an impressive run in the Delhi Premier League , where he notched up 381 runs in 10 innings, finishing just behind Priyansh Arya and Ayush Badoni on the run-scoring charts. Arya, another emerging IPL star, made headlines in 2025 with a stunning century for Punjab Kings against Chennai Super Kings.
Singh’s journey to the IPL began in 2019 when he was first picked by Rajasthan Royals but did not feature in a match. In the 2025 IPL auction, he was picked by Lucknow Supergiants at his base price of Rs 30 lakh, and now he has a golden opportunity to showcase his talent. With Marsh missing out, Singh will step up to fill the void and hopes to make a significant impact in his IPL debut .
Lucknow Super Giants will be hoping that Singh can replicate his strong domestic form and deliver when they take on Gujarat Titans at the Ekana International Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday. All eyes will be on the Delhi batter as he aims to make a name for himself in the IPL spotlight.
