'Rishabh Pant hasn't had the season he'd have liked': Mitchell Marsh

Lucknow : After Abhishek Sharma’s 59 off 20 balls knocked Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) out of playoffs contention, it was left to Mitchell Marsh to face the tough questions.

On his assessment of the team’s performance, LSG’s most successful batter this season, said, “It’s very disappointing. We’ve shown glimpses of how good a team we can be, but this year the IPL has been very hard. You only have to be a little bit off and you are immediately under pressure.”

On the woeful form of skipper Rishabh Pant , Marsh said, “There’s no doubt he ( Pant ) would be the first one to say he hasn’t had a season he’d have liked. But I know for myself personally, that’s the way things go sometimes. We know he’s a fantastic player, highly skilled and talented. So he’ll be back.”

On the positives for the franchise, Marsh was noncommittal. “The time for reflection is after the season. The IPL is a beast of a tournament and the margins are really small. We lost a couple of close games that have come back to bite us,” he said.
Marsh, who didn’t bowl at all during the IPL, wouldn’t say when he would be able to turn his arm over. “I haven’t bowled a lot since Dec, so I decided to shut it down for the IPL. We’ll see where that lands over the next few months,” said Marsh.
