NEW DELHI: Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani expressed full support to India in its fight against terrorism and "all its actions to bring the perpetrators to justice" in a conversation with PM Narendra Modi, govt said on Tuesday.

The Amir, who visited India earlier this year and was received at the airport by Modi himself, conveyed condolences and solidarity with the people of India at the loss of lives in the cross-border terror attack in Pahalgam.

The ministry of external affairs (MEA) said Modi thanked Al-Thani for the clear message of solidarity and support.

"Both leaders reiterated their commitment to deepen India-Qatar Strategic Partnership and to implement the decisions taken during the state visit of the Amir earlier this year," said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

The visit by the Amir also saw the two countries upgrading the bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership.

Modi had also thanked Al-Thani for pardoning seven Indian Navy veterans who had been arrested in Qatar for their involvement allegedly in an espionage case.
