New Delhi, April 19 A tragic incident struck Delhi late Friday night as a four-storey residential building collapsed in the Mustafabad area of North East Delhi, leaving at least four people dead and ten others critically injured. Rescue operations are still underway, with fears that up to 10 people may still be trapped under the debris.
Emergency Teams Rush to Site for Rescue OperationsThe Delhi Fire Department received the distress call around 2:50 AM on Saturday, and six fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the location. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police teams, and dog squads are also engaged in intensive rescue operations.
According to Atul Garg, Director of Delhi Fire Services, “We responded promptly with multiple units, and NDRF teams are currently working to extract people trapped under the rubble.” Emergency lights, cranes, and sniffer dogs are being used to locate and assist the trapped individuals.

Medical teams are treating the injured at nearby hospitals. “Rescue operations are ongoing. We suspect 8 to 10 people are still trapped,” he added.
Locals in the area have also joined hands in the rescue effort, pulling some residents out even before authorities arrived.
Building Housed Multiple Families and TenantsEyewitness Rasheed, a local resident, shared that approximately 25 people were residing in the building, including two families and several tenants. “There were two men, two women, and their children. Some are still missing. The eldest daughter-in-law had three children, and the second daughter-in-law also had three kids,” Rasheed said.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the collapse. Structural instability and illegal construction are being considered as possible factors.
Ongoing Rescue and Relief EffortsThe area around the collapse has been cordoned off, and heavy machinery has been brought in to assist with clearing the debris. Authorities have assured that compensation and relief measures will be announced following the completion of rescue operations.
The Delhi government is expected to launch an inquiry into the incident to determine the cause and accountability behind the collapse.
